Flights: Finding Cheap Flights To Places Around The World

Author: Jacky Uy
Use the internet, look for airfare consolidators, and/or contact a travel agent to discuss pricing, availability, and the desired flight. All three of these offer individual benefits, including discounts, price cuts, or other promotion offers.

This website offers a variety of resources to finding cheap flights, look around and you can find a lot of great deals from suppliers we ourselves prefer.

The internet is also a wonderful tool for acquiring cheap flights. There are many sites that you can check out to get cheap flight information, including Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline, etc. There are so many.

Airfare Consolidators are also easy to find. I typed 'airfare consolidators' in WebCrawler and found a site www.twarp.com that lists several consolidators. How do consolidators give you a cheap flight? Consolidators purchase the tickets in bulk from the airlines. Just like when you purchase 200 tea bags at a price of $4, instead of paying $2.50 for 100. It is more cost efficient to buy in bulk. That is exactly what consolidators do. Then, they offer a price that is below what the typical ticket costs to make sure that it is appealing to customers.

Travel Agents are a little more expensive usually. However, they sometimes have access to airline's 'cheap flight' deals that are not available through the internet or through a consolidator. These deals are offered by the airline and usually allow large discounts. I local company in Columbus, Ohio last year offered $99 airplane tickets to Orlando, Florida. These cheap flights were only available at $99 dollars, if you went through a specific travel agent. Travel agents are typically the most expensive source for airline tickets, because they have more people employed. Therefore, they have to charge a larger commission to be able to pay the employee.

There are other ways to obtain cheap flights, including flying outside of peak flying times. Peak flying times will vary depending on the airline and on the destination. If you are arriving at your destination at an off peak hour, then you may get a discount for that as well as getting a discount for leaving at an off peak hour. For example, fly during the early morning hours if there is a flight available then. This usually drops the price of the ticket, because no one wants to fly anywhere at three o'clock in the morning unless they are used to not sleeping at night.

Flying during off seasons is another way to save on airline tickets. If you are flying to Florida, for example, fly during the beginning of their summer months. Most people inside the U.S. that travel to Florida travel there to escape the cold temperatures of home. Because of that, airline companies offer higher priced tickets when the tickets are in demand, or in the winter months. So, when the tickets are not in demand (when it is 100 degrees during the day in Florida), the airline tickets are much cheaper.

No matter which type of source you use to find the cheapest flight, everyone has the options described above. The only question is whether you will use them the next time you take a trip or at the very least shop around and see if you are already getting the best deal for your money. Even though cheap flights are inexpensive, make sure that you are only looking for price. If you want to have a direct flight for example, you will not find the cheapest flight available for the destination you are traveling to. Typically the cheapest flights include a layover in a large city, such as Atlanta, New York City, Phoenix, etc.

The best advise I can offer when finding airline tickets is, 'Do the research and you will find what you are looking for.' This does not mean that you will find tickets for $5 dollars, but every time you find a cheaper flight plan, you may save $5 dollars. As your searching, keep an eye on every $5 that you save and see how quickly the savings add up.
